The Nova is a statuesque head turner with a rich, sexy bass, great string action, and an utterly sensuous finish...a revolution in harp design. Expect to fall in love!
As a professional harpist, I can highly recommend John Westling and Sandpiper harps. I perform regularly on two harps that he made for me. John worked with me to design special features on each harp that I required for performing in Hawaii. Each harp has a superior tone quality and excellent workmanship.
After many months of research, I have purchased one of John Westling's NOVA harps. In a roomful of harps it stood out for me in sound. It has a rich bass, balanced mid-range, and clear, bell-like treble. I will be using it for performing, touring and teaching. John is most professional and personable to work with. He listens to the client, provides lots of options for instrument choice (woods, design etc.) and has the highest level of workmanship.
This is a beautifully finished harp with a bell-like tone. Like all of the Sandpiper harps, it has a lower string tension and hence, almost "plays itself"! This would be a good harp for the intermediate or advanced player who wishes to compact their arrangements by playing hands in the same octave. I enjoy the opportunities for doing multiple rhythms and syncopated styles.
I recommend Sandpiper Harps to anyone who wants a quality instrument. I gave John my requirements -- a great sound and a Cithara Nova design -- and told him the rest was up to him. I now have the most beautiful quilted maple harp with a stunning inlay of purple heart on the sound board and pillar. The craftsmanship is exquisite, the tonal quality excellent. Thank you John for a superb instrument!
